Because my current host sucks so bad when it comes to technical support (the kid at the helpdesk didn’t even know what I was talking about when I said the words Server Side Includes), I’ve decided to switch hosts. Gonna try out media temple and see how life is in sunny California. Maybe do a little Californicating.

So if you don’t see me, or this page doesn’t work for a few days, that’s why.

I do so love the sun.

I just finished reading an article in gear magazine entitled The search for the perfect woman.

Three great sidequotes from the article, and my own two cents:

“You can stand before a plain woman and two minutes before talking to her realize that she’s the most beautiful woman on God’s earth because of the way she thinks and moves. And you can be standing in front of the most gorgeous, drop-dead body and it’s like you’re suddenly driving a truck up a hill backwards.” – Pierce Brosnan

“Women. You can’t live with them and you can’t get them to dress up in a skimpy Nazi costume and beat you with a warm squash.” – Emo Philips

“Sometimes in my dreams there are women. When such dreams happen, immediately I remember, I am a monk. It is very important to analyze ‘What is the real benefit of sexual desire?’ A beautiful face or beautiful body, no matter how beautiful, essentially decompose into a skeleton. A couple in a sexual experience is happy for that moment. Then, very soon, trouble begins.” – H.H. the Dalai Lama

But oh those moments!!! – me

And as much as I respect the teachings of H.H., I do not feel that monks, or men of such noble ideals have any place discussing sex or sexuality. Especially when they have little or no practical experience to draw from. It’s one thing to live apart from society in a monastery and practice celibacy, and righteous ideals. It’s quite a different thing however, to live in the world, amongst your fellow human beings, and practice those same ideals.

Please, dear god, someone tell me this is a joke. [NSFW]

Comet Cursors has become the bane of my existence. It seems everywhere I go, people want me to use their silly, frelling cursors on their site. I get asked to install Comet Cursor at least once a day by some idiotic site. NO, is always my response. They’re just evil. So I was more than surprised to find, on a visit to this Warner Bros. site, that they not only use the damn things, but install them without confirmation.

I am about to be truly pissed off.

I’m almost done with the interface for tree|trybe. It may be up after this weekend. We’ll see. Props go out to Cal for letting me use his code. I would never have gotten it worked out on my own (since I still suck at javascript), but I at least managed to figure out how to modify his code so that it did what I wanted.

Why won’t the programming lights go on in my head??? HELP ME!!!!

I’ve yet to decide if I’m completely happy with the look of this blog. My design ideas are changing daily, even hourly. I also think I’m going to start using SSI for alot of stuff. Hopefully it will make updating, and my life, a whole lot easier.

I’m spending countless hours trying to figure out how to present tree|trybe. I sort of want this pseudo-surrealistic feel to the navigation. And currently I’m all into the idea of using glyphs and weird symbols. There’s something to be said for conveying information with images. Especially ones no one understands. I also have an idea for a Flash loop of the day. Not sure if I’m gonna use that on both sites yet or just this one.

I think too much, don’t I?

Too much thinking, not enough doing.

Things are certainly moving forward. I’ve been busy busting my ass working on tree|trybe as well as getting Bob all set up with his fresh, shiny, new, blog site. We’ll probably be tweaking that for a little while still, but it’s alive and breathing at this point. Welcome to blogland Bob, hope you enjoy it.
