batman returns

Bats are helping in Florida’s battle against mosquitoes, and some people are

…investing in bat houses — pole-mounted structures that can house from a few hundred to several thousand bats high above a back yard.

Several thousand? What a good idea. Bring several thousand bats to a nightly banquet in your backyard. It’s not like they might breed if they are well-fed and sheltered.

menage a trois

So did everybody enjoy the game down at center court?

I thought it was a brilliant display of talent by both parties. I also personally feel Zeldman won, but that could be my zealotry showing.

Now comes the big question. How many of you played along? Raise your hands. I did. Unbeknownst to the PhotoShop pros, they were being shadowed by a rank amateur. Well maybe not rank, but certainly an amateur next to them.

I decided to play along in real time with the game, and see what I could do, using each volley. My only criteria was that when I saw the next volley, I would stop what I was doing. Other than my initial nervousness, I think I held my own. But I am not, repeat, NOT putting myself in their class, so don’t think I’m getting all arrogant. That said, you wanna see?

1 ¤ 2 ¤ 3 ¤ 4 ¤ 5 ¤ 6 ¤ 7 ¤ 8 ¤ 9

I had fun. It almost felt like jamming with a group. Shame I don’t have the guts to really jump in and play.

beer – the other soft drink

A news story in the Guardian reports that a pilot scheme is taking place in Belgium’s Limburg province, whereby some schools will be substituting low-alcohol beer for soft drinks such as lemonade and Coca-Cola.

Where were these forward thinking pioneers when I went to school?

it’s not a limerick

Accidently stumbled on the worst limerick I’ve ever read in my life.

Never invite a dwarf over for dinner
For a dwarf’s a dwarf and a dwarf’s a sinner
But never do deny
That wee little man your home to dine
Or he’ll drown you in paint thinner
