zzzzzzzzz

Ok, so here I am, some eight hours later, and I’ve finished my corpse section and sent everything out. Sometimes not sleeping really pays off.

Once I got in the proper frame of mind, which is bleary-eyed and punchy, I was able to put together what I think is an interesting section. Either that, or my brain puked up in photoshop, and we won’t know what we have until someone screams and requests that the little men in white coats cart me away.

the rub

I just recently received my latest exquisite corpse slice, and I’ve been sitting here looking at it all night. The only thing going through my head when I look at it is, “What the hell am I supposed to do with that?!”

So I got that going for me.

off to mars

Want to go to Mars? The Mars Society is looking for volunteers. You don’t really get to go to Mars. You have your choice of Utah or the Arctic. But it’s your chance to get away from it all. Don’t be surprised if you see me there.

charity controversy

Bill O’Reilly continues to talk about the charity controversy, and how the money isn’t being dispersed fast enough or properly. I am inclined to agree with him. All this money was donated to various charities with the implied result being that it would get to the families. Everyone wanted to help, and thought the best way to do it was to donate to these organizations. So we all did, and they raised a tremendous amount of money, but not much of it seems to be going where we all intended it to go. The situation needs to be rectified.

George Clooney and Clint Eastwood respond to O’Reilly.

truck chase

There’s a truck chase taking place in Dallas. A stolen 18 wheeler loaded with lumber is being persued by police through the streets of Dallas. Bizarre OJ deja vu.

Update!—The truck is now on fire, smoke trailing, and the right side rear wheels are blowing off.

Update!—Having lost most of the rear load, the driver now seems to be trying to shake the remainder of the unhinged load loose.

Update!—Apparently an armed robbery led to the current situation. The chase has been going on for over an hour, and at this time, schools would normally be letting out. Parents and schools have been asked to keep the children in until this is over.

Why they haven’t gotten another large truck to block him is beyond me.

Update!—Watching this, and seeing this burning smoking truck barrel down on other cars on the road, I am struck by the fact that these cars DON’T see him coming. Some only barely manage to get out of his way, which goes to the fact that people don’t look in their rearview mirrors or pay attention to sirens. Sheesh!

Update!—The truck has finally stopped and the driver has given himself up. Swat teams have moved in and restrained him. What made him stop suddenly after all this time, is anybody’s guess. I am amazed at the restraint that the Dallas police are showing. In any case it’s a peacful end to a 2 hour chase.

hate club

Hate Club is Time Magazine’s latest cover story which explores the Al Qaeda network around the globe.

Some of the points made are the fact that

“The camps in Afghanistan play a vital role. Whatever network they may originally have been aligned with, visitors to the camps meet men from other groups, forge relationships and acquire the stature of soldiers in a holy war.”

and that the ideology of Takfir wal Hijra

“…is particularly dangerous because it provides a religious justification for slaughtering not just unbelievers but also those who think of themselves as Muslim. Intensely undemocratic-for to accept the authority of anyone but God would be a blasphemy-Takfir wal Hijra is a sort of Islamic fascism.”

If Al Qaeda is to be curtailed, there will be a lot of work to do around the globe. Eliminating the camps in Afghanistan is only a start.
